Early on December 21st we experienced a full moon eclipse. This will influence the earth for 6 months. The eclipse took place with sun in Sagittarius and the moon in Gemini, two Mutable signs. This suggests a change of direction or thought. As the sun and moon are both square Jupiter/Uranus creating a T square, the changes will come with tension and difficulty. Communication, which is essential in all areas for positive outcomes, will be abrupt, arrogant and stalled. All levels of diplomacy will be challenged, between spouses or countries.

Capricorn’s style is practical, serious and sensible. They make a list and check it twice, at least. They know who they’re shopping for and how much they’ll spend. Always very well organized. If you’re on a budget, Mercury in Capricorn will help you stick to it.

Mercury reenters Sagittarius on December 19^th and restraints disappear. You might get caught up in the holiday magic and have to go shopping again, without a list. Feeling generous, your heart tells you more and bigger is better; spend, spend, spend. Oh, what fun it is to spend on the Christmas holiday. This Mercury may also encourage you to overdrink and overeat; everything tastes so good.

Sagittarius loves the grand and glorious, forget the price. Capricorn has to pay the bills.

Your holiday shopping will be most successful if completed before Mercury goes retrograde. You’ll find it easier to stay on budget, and the gifts you purchase won’t find their way back to the stores. Then when January comes around with December’s bills, you’ll be carefree because everything went as you planned. Thank you Capricorn.

Mercury will be retrograde for about three weeks. As always, this is the perfect time to be conservative and reconsider all aspects of your life.  Avoid making important decisions at this time, as you’ll probably change your mind.   When retrograde, all forms of communication are more likely to be misunderstood, so it’s best to avoid new projects or journeys to unfamiliar places.  Mercury retrograde affects anything having to do with travel, as well as the means you use TO travel (car, train, boat, plane, spaceship…), these can all be problematic.  Likewise, mail (including e-mail) is often delayed, lost or misdirected.   Appliances and things with engines tend to break down.

It’s a good time to do all things “re”:

rewrite………redo………recall………rearrange………..reboot………..reconnect.

Check the “re” words in the dictionary; those are the things to do.

It is a good idea to check and recheck your plans. You absolutely don’t want to buy a car or computer during this time; too many tales too sad to tell.  Forewarned is forearmed.

Mercury retrograde causes difficulty with:

• All communication: phone, fax, mail, speaking, etc.
• Electronics and machines, especially computers
• Forgetting things
• Vehicles and travel
• Missed appointments
• Getting lost and losing things
• Projects and people

Christmas and Holiday Shopping

Venus, (wonderful Venus) the planet of love and beauty, will turn direct November 18^th, giving a green light to creating and advancing relationships and purchasing those luxury items you’ve been dreaming about. Sounds like the perfect time to go Christmas and holiday shopping. It is.

Mars in enthusiast Sagittarius, could cause money to fly from your pockets or purse, so make a list and check it twice. November 22^nd the Sun joins Mars in Sagittarius increasing feeling of optimism and good will; lavish gifts for everyone. With our eyes on the stars, Sagittarius like, we pursue the grand vision and forget about earthly things like reality. This is why, year after year, people joyfully spend on the holidays, caught up in the magic. Then the Sun enters Capricorn, that reality checker, and the bills come due and must be paid. Ouch!

Just to add a little more pressure, it’s best to complete your shopping before December 10^th when the old trickster Mercury goes retrograde. Yikes! Gifts purchased with Mercury retrograde find their way back to the store: wrong size, wrong color, or just wrong, wrong, wrong. Of course, mechanical or electrical  gifts turn out to be lemons that just don’t work. Also, send your cards and gifts before Mercury retrograde to insure they reach their destination.

The weekend after Thanksgiving finds Venus in Libra, Mercury in Sagittarius and the Moon in Leo adding generosity, jolly fun and the ability to find just the right gift. Love overflows. Prices will be low, so even if you don’t usually shop Thanksgiving weekend, make an exception this year. You’ll be glad you did.

With your shopping and mailing done, you’ll have abundant time to enjoy all the trimmings of Christmas: decorating the tree, holiday parties, baking cookies and spending time with friends and family.
