Devotion and our Spiritual Path

Devotion to God is a key component on our path to spiritual ascension.  Devotion helps us develop our sense of awareness of our actions.  For as we develop our deep and abiding love for God; we will take more care to apply spiritual principles in our lives and avoid activities that are averse to our ascension.  Sa Ra

Monothesism vs. Polytheism? A false dichotomy.

There is no religion in the history of the world that has ever been polytheistic.  The referred to “gods” simply represent the many aspects of the One God.  Representations that ancient or indigenous cultures practiced polytheism were based on either lack of understanding (at best) or racist attempts to characterize these cultures and their practices as “inferior”.  Sa Ra

Are Spirituality and Wealth Compatible?

God is abundance, for everything in the Universe is God.  As we realize our oneness with God, we become abundance.  Everything that exists is available to us.  Our consciousness then shifts from identifying with scarcity and lack, which breeds fear and despair, into a higher consciousness of abundance which is manifest in comfort and tranquility, where there is no attachment.  Non-attachment is important so that we avoid seeking happiness from the accumulation of wealth INSTEAD of from attaining oneness with God.

God prefers that wealth be in the hands of the Spiritual aspirant that has developed the proper attitude of non-attachment for God knows that in wealth in the hands if such a person will be used for dharmic (good or beneficial) purposes.  Our attitude when we need money is not to focus on the physical circumstance.  Our mindset should be one of abundance despite the temporary circumstances.  We should innerstand that we have all that we need now and carry ourselves accordingly.  Sa Ra

Love is God, God is Love

God does not create suffering, God does not create poverty and hunger.  God does not create earthquakes, floods or other natural disasters.  God does not create wars.  These are all manifestations of the actions of humanity.  God is love.  Sa Ra

Human imposed qualities of God

God is not vengeful, angry or jealous.  For God, these emotions exist not.  God has no “chosen” people.  All are God’s children and receive according to their deeds.  Men impose these qualities upon God out of selfishness and limited understanding.  Sa Ra

Thinking Problem

It started out innocently enough.  I began to think at parties now and then, just to loosen up.  Inevitably though, one thought lead to another, and soon I was more than just a social thinker.  I began to think even when I was all by myself.  Thinking became more and more important to me, and finally I was thinking all the time.  I just couldn’t control myself-I began thinking on the job.  Soon I had a reputation at work as a heavy thinker.  One day the boss called me in and said, “I like you, and it hurts me to say this, but your thinking has become a real problem.  If you don’t stop thinking on the job, we’re going to have to let you go.  This gave me alot to think about.

At my next checkup, my doctor told me that my heavy thinking was giving me high blood pressure and that if I went on like this, I might not live much longer.  But today, I’m a recovering thinker.  Life is so much more peaceful now that I stopped thinking!

Seek Ye First The Kingdom of God

“Seek ye first the kingdom of God” (Universal Consciousness/Enlightenment), for this is the eternal Source of happiness and peace.  The kingdom of God is attained through our ardent spiritual practices and God’s grace.  If we make this our focus, we will be at peace and will be able to add the things of this world with the understanding that they will not bring us happiness.  Our attitude towards the physical things will be of non-attachment. “Then (after seeking the Kingdom of God) all these things will be added unto you” in this life.  As a result, our peace and happiness as a result will not be disturbed when these things inevitably go away because we did not look to them as our source of happiness. Devotion

We should cultivate a deep sense of love and devotion for God.  Our love should be deeper than that which we feel for our significant others.  Composing love letters and poems in the way that the ancients composed songs and hymns helps cultivates this sense.  Sa Ra

The Source

You are the rays of light that warm me,

You are the very sustainer of life,

You are the ocean and the sea,

You are the stars at night,

You are everything that I see,

And everything that I do not,

You are the very Source of all,

Without you, I am not.
