Control of The Mind is of Utmost Importance

Control of the mind is of utmost importance.  When we are not in control of our minds, our ego controls it for us.  This can lead to anxiety, worry, depression, anger and a number of negative emotions. Learn to be aware of your thoughts at all times and to chose those that benefit you. Meditation helps us to develop this discipline.  Sa Ra

Negative Emotions are Rooted in Attachments

Be ever mindful that when we experience negative emotions, the emotion is rooted in our attachments.  Anger and other negative emotions are simply reactions.  At their root is attachment.  When we observe ourselves experiencing a negative emotion, take some time for introspection to identify the attachment that caused the reaction.  This awareness allows us the opportunity to uproot the attachment and experience the situation when it recurs in peace and tranquility.  Sa Ra

We Are Like A Glass of Water

We are like unto a glass of water.  Initially, we are pure for we come from the Ocean of purity.  Over time, the dust of life experience settles into the glass and clouds the water and distorts our vision.  At times, the dust settles and we experience temporary peace.  Spiritual practice is the filter that cleans our water. Meditation, Detachment and Awareness

It is important that we begin and maintain the practice of meditation with consistency.  Meditation allows us to develop the ability to observe our thoughts with detachment and still our minds.  The discipline that we gain from this practice can and should be applied to our lives, whereupon we use the ability to detach from our thoughts in meditation to detach from them during the course of our lives. We can also apply this detachment to events of our lives.  In this way, we develop the ability to be unaffected by the events that occur during the course of our lives.  Sa Ra
